Accessing Documents
Documents are accessible from two locations:
- Case-level — open a case and click the Documents tab to see files attached to that specific case.
- Global Documents page — click Documents in the sidebar to search and browse files across all your cases.

Uploading a Document
- Navigate to the Documents tab of the relevant case.
- Click Upload Document or drag and drop files directly onto the upload area.
- Once the file is selected, fill in the metadata form:
- Title — a descriptive name for the document.
- Category — select the appropriate category (see below).
- Description — optional summary or filing reference.
- Click Upload. The document is stored securely and linked to the case.

Choose the category that best describes the document's legal function:
- Contract

Previewing & Downloading
Click any document in the list to open a full-screen preview directly in your browser — no need to download to view PDFs, images, or Word files. Use the Download button in the preview panel to save a copy locally.
Sharing with Clients
To share a document through the client portal, click the document's action menu (three dots) and select Share with Client. The client will see this document in their portal under the relevant case.
Version History
If you upload a file with the same name as an existing document, AdlDesk creates a new version rather than overwriting the original. Click Version History on any document to see all versions and restore a previous one if needed.
