Overview
As a paralegal, you have read access to the cases assigned to you. You can view all relevant information, add working notes, follow the case timeline, and support the lead lawyer with research and preparation tasks. You cannot modify core case fields — those are reserved for lawyers and firm administrators.
Viewing Assigned Cases
Navigate to Cases from the sidebar. The list shows only cases where you have been added as a team member. Click any case to open its detail page. Fields visible to you include case number, title, court, status, assigned lawyer, opposing counsel, and filing dates. Fields such as financial agreements and internal lawyer notes are hidden.
Adding Case Notes
Inside a case, open the Notes tab to add working notes. Each note is timestamped and attributed to your user account. Notes are visible to all team members on the case. Use notes to record research findings, flag missing documents, or communicate progress to the lawyer without opening a chat thread.
Case Timeline
The Timeline tab shows a chronological log of all events on the case: status changes, document uploads, hearing outcomes, and task completions. This is read-only and provides valuable context when you join a case mid-way through proceedings.
Hearings Schedule
The Hearings tab lists all scheduled court sessions with date, time, court name, chamber, and session type. You can view this schedule to coordinate your preparation tasks around upcoming hearings.
Parties Information
The Parties tab displays all parties involved in the case: client, opposing party, legal representatives, and any third-party witnesses. Contact details are available to help you reach out for document collection or scheduling coordination.
