Overview
Task management for paralegals is focused on execution, not creation. Lawyers and managers create and assign tasks to you; your role is to work through them, keep their status updated, and communicate progress. This page walks you through everything you need to manage your workload efficiently.
Accessing My Tasks
Click My Tasks in the left sidebar. This view is scoped exclusively to tasks assigned to your account. You will not see tasks assigned to colleagues. The list is sorted by due date by default, with overdue items pinned at the top in red.
Understanding Task Status
Every task moves through three stages:
- To Do — The task has been assigned but work has not yet started.
- In Progress — You have started working on the task. Update to this status as soon as you begin so the assigning lawyer knows you are on it.
- Done — The task is fully completed. Once marked done, the task moves to the completed section and contributes to your monthly completion count on the dashboard.
Updating Task Status
Open a task by clicking on it. Use the Status dropdown at the top of the detail panel to change the stage. You can move a task forward (To Do to In Progress to Done) or backwards if you need to reopen a task you marked done prematurely.
Adding Completion Notes
Before marking a task as Done, use the Notes field to describe what you completed. For example, note which documents were uploaded, which party was contacted, or what research findings were recorded. These notes are visible to the assigning lawyer and serve as a work log.
Filter Options
Use the filter bar above the task list to narrow results by: Priority (low, medium, high, urgent), Due Date (today, this week, overdue), and Case (select a specific case to see only tasks related to it).
