Cases Overview
Browse, filter, and manage all your firm's legal cases — create new cases and track their progress.

Accessing the Cases Page
Click Cases in the left sidebar. The page opens to a table showing all cases your role has permission to view. A filter bar sits above the table for quick narrowing of results.

Using the Filter Bar
The filter bar contains four dropdowns and a search field:
- Status — filter by case stage: draft, open, in_progress, pending_hearing, adjourned, closed_won, closed_lost, closed_settled, or archived.
- Priority — filter by urgency: low, medium, high, or urgent.
- Type — filter by legal area: civil, criminal, family, commercial, labor, administrative, real_estate, or personal_status.
- Assigned Lawyer — filter to see only the cases handled by a specific team member.
- Search — free-text search across case number and case title.
Reading the Cases Table
The table displays nine columns: Case#, Title, Client, Type, Status (colour-coded badge), Priority, Assigned Lawyer, Next Hearing, and Created Date. Click any row to open the full case detail view.
Creating a New Case
Click the New Case button (top-right). The creation form contains:
- Title — a short descriptive name for internal reference.
- Case Number — the official court docket number (can be updated later).
- Type — select the legal area from the dropdown.
- Priority — set the urgency level.
- Client — searchable dropdown; start typing a client name to filter the list.
- Assigned Lawyer — select the primary responsible attorney from your team.
- Court Name — enter the name of the presiding court.
- Description — free-text field for case background, strategy notes, or instructions.
Click Create Case to save. The case opens immediately in the detail view where you can add hearings, documents, and financial entries.
