Opening the Global Search
The global search is available from anywhere in AdlDesk. There are two ways to open it:
- Click the magnifying glass icon in the left sidebar (above the navigation items).
- Press Ctrl + K on Windows/Linux or Cmd + K on Mac — the search overlay opens instantly from any page.

What Gets Searched
The global search queries four record types simultaneously:
- Cases — searches case number, title, and description. Matching cases appear with their status badge and assigned lawyer.
- Clients — searches client name (Arabic and English), phone number, email address, and national ID / commercial registration number. Useful for quickly pulling up a client record when you only have their ID number.
- Documents — searches document title and tags. Results show the document category and which case it is linked to.
- Hearings — searches court name and judge name. Results show the hearing date and the related case.
Reading Search Results
Results are grouped by record type with a distinct icon prefix for each group — a scales icon for Cases, a person icon for Clients, a file icon for Documents, and a gavel icon for Hearings. Each result shows a one-line summary. Click any result to navigate directly to that record.
Filtering Search Results
After typing a query, use the filter chips below the search bar to narrow results by type:
- Select Cases to see only case matches.
- Select Clients for client-only results.
- Select Documents to search within the document library.
- Use the Date Range filter to restrict results to records created or modified within a specific period.
Recent Searches
When you open the search overlay without typing, it displays your last five searches as a quick-access list. Click any recent search to immediately re-run it. Recent searches are saved locally in your browser session — they clear when you log out.
Tips for Effective Searching
- Search by national ID number to instantly locate a client when you know their ID but not their exact name spelling.
- Search by court name to pull up all hearings scheduled at a specific court.
- Search by document tag to find all documents marked with a particular keyword (e.g., "judgment" or "urgent").
- Use partial case numbers — typing "1042" will match case #1042 and any case whose number contains "1042".
