Tasks & To-Do

Create, assign, and track tasks for your cases using list view or a Kanban board.

Where to Find Tasks

Tasks in AdlDesk exist in two places:

  • Case-level tasks — inside a specific case via the Tasks tab. These are scoped to that case only.
  • Global tasks — accessible from the Tasks item in the sidebar. Shows all your tasks across every case in one consolidated view.

Task Fields

Each task contains the following information:

  • Title — short, actionable description (e.g., "Draft petition for Court of Appeal").
  • Description — detailed instructions or background context.
  • Priority — Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.
  • Status — Todo, In Progress, Done, or Cancelled.
  • Due Date — the deadline by which the task must be completed.
  • Assigned To — yourself or a paralegal on your team.

Creating a Task

  1. Click Add Task (in the case Tasks tab or from the global Tasks page).
  2. Enter the title and optional description.
  3. Set priority and due date.
  4. Assign to yourself or another team member.
  5. Click Save.

Kanban Board View

Switch to the Kanban view using the toggle at the top right of the Tasks page. Tasks are organized into four columns: Todo, In Progress, Done, and Cancelled. You can drag and drop cards between columns to update their status instantly.

Overdue Tasks

Tasks whose due date has passed and are not yet marked Done are automatically highlighted in red in both list and Kanban views. They also count toward the My Overdue Items KPI on your dashboard.

Tip: Delegate document preparation tasks to a paralegal by assigning them directly here. The paralegal will see the task in their own task list with full context.
Important: Marking a task as Cancelled does not delete it — it is kept for audit trail purposes. If a task was created by mistake, use Cancelled instead of deleting.
